Nicole Capper is a Survivor SA S7 castaway, Luxuria Lifestyle SA CEO and Editor-In-Chief, and Mrs South Africa 2018. This mom of two has a background as a functional medicine pharmacist, and is also a model, presenter, and ambassador for Rare Diseases SA. Her Survivor SA adventure came about as a result of her realising goals she never imagined she had the courage to achieve. At six weeks old her daughter was diagnosed with a life-limiting rare disease, Cystic Fibrosis. This was a major catalyst for change in her life and led her to enter and subsequently win the Mrs South Africa competition. As an advocate for women’s rights, Nicole believes she had a choice: to allow a disease to steal her purpose, using it as an excuse for complacency; or to consciously go after her dreams despite it, and in so doing, show her children that nothing can hold them back from achieving their goals.
With a passion for health and preventative medicine, Nicole uses her mobility and fitness to raise awareness for those without full health, by participating in mountain climbs, sporting events and outdoor adventures all over the world – with her intention to liberate courage in others to do the same. Nicole co-founded Uprising – an organisation that takes others on transformational journeys, all the while raising funds and awareness for children with dread diseases. Through these journeys, she helps fellow explorers find their strengths, celebrate them and realise their full potential. Nicole lives to celebrate freedom, authenticity and collaboration. She says, “No great success is ever achieved alone. I have risen by standing on the shoulders of great people. Let us rise together.”
