Every ingredient in our Beauty Greens® formula has been chosen with care; that includes flaxseeds - our source of omega-3. The official name for flaxseeds is Linum usitatissimum, which means “the most useful”. So, it’s no surprise this is our seed of choice!

General health benefits of flaxseeds
Generally speaking, flaxseeds are a source of B vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. They’re also a great source of protein, containing about 24g per 100g.
Their health benefits, however, are mainly attributed to their impressive omega-3 content, lignans and dietary fibre.
Flaxseeds: The good kind of fat
Flaxseeds contain about 24% Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is an omega-3 fatty acid and one of the two essential fatty acids that you have to obtain from the food you eat, as your body doesn't produce them. Consuming ALAs has been linked to the prevention and improvement of cardiovascular disease (including reducing risk of heart attacks and strokes), certain cancers, rheumatoid arthritis and autoimmune disorders.
Omega-3 fatty acids have been reported to reduce blood cholesterol levels, consequently reducing heart disease risk. Omega-3 fatty acids are also natural anti-inflammatories which are beneficial for fighting against inflammatory diseases like arthritis, and they help calm inflammatory skin and scalp conditions that can result in hair loss. Omega-3s also nourish the skin, hair and nails - promoting healthy, glowing skin, shiny hair and strong nails.
Why we love lignans
Flaxseeds are also a rich source of lignans - plant compounds that have antioxidant and oestrogen properties, both of which can help lower the risk of cancer and improve health. Flaxseed consumption is linked to a lower risk of breast and prostate cancer.

Flaxseeds are high in fibre
Flaxseeds contain two types of dietary fibre - soluble and insoluble. This duo provides “food” for our gut bacteria - stimulating their growth, bulking up stools and resulting in more regular bowel movements.
Soluble fibre increases the consistency of the contents of our gut and slows down our digestion rate. This helps to regulate blood sugar and lower cholesterol.
Insoluble fibre allows more water to bind to the stools, increases bulk and results in softer stools - useful for preventing constipation and for those who have irritable bowel syndrome or diverticular disease.
With so much goodness packed in each tiny seed, adding flaxseeds to our Beauty Greens® means better overall health for you, and of course, glowing skin, shinier hair and stronger nails too.
One serving of Beauty Greens® provides 500mg Omega-3.
